Thursday rides during the lighter evenings (April to September).
Route distances are in the range 12 – 25 miles and rides depart the Parson Woodforde at 6.30pm. With four or more groups, each ride is designed to enable members to ride at a pace they are happy with whilst pushing that comfort zone just a little bit.
The beginners’ group, in particular, is a great way to start club cycling. We’re always back to the pub before 8.30pm for our club social evening. See below for more details of these rides and watch out for an invitation to join the “Even Faster Group”!
The groups are:
12-15 miles11-14 mph
Rides will be around 15 miles in distance and we aim to ride at an average speed of between 11-14 mph. Riding with this group is a great way to find out what “club riding” is all about.
20-25 miles15-16 mph average
Rides will be around 20-25 miles distance. With an average speed of around 15 to 16 mph, they are paced to keep a social feel to a group ride.
25+ miles17-18 mph average
John Rainbow (or another experienced club member) will lead a ride following the same route as the fastest group at an average speed of 17-18 mph. This group introduces techniques for bunch riding at higher speeds including double and single pace lines. Expect to take your turn on the front!
25+ miles19+ mph average
Graeme (or another experienced club member) will lead this ride. For the fast and experienced only, riders will need to demonstrate that they have fully mastered the basics of safe bunch riding before progressing to this group.
